Hatchet Ridge Wind Farm

Hatchet Ridge Wind Farm

Northern California

The only large-scale wind project to become operational in California in 2010 was the 44-turbine development on a portion of the Hatchet Mountain, 212 miles north of Sacramento.

Walbridge Equipment Installation was contracted by Siemens Energy to install the 2.3-megawatt, 93-meter wind generator turbines – which is owned by Pacific Energy Group. The 101-megawatt farm will produce enough clean renewable energy to power approximately 10,000 homes in California.

It is expected that the electricity produced annually will offset more than 134,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equal to emissions generated by 21,000 vehicles.

California has the third largest installed base of wind energy in the United States behind Texas and Iowa according to the American Wind Energy Association, a trade group.
